Amazon Web Services’ Bob Kwik discusses key tech trends and shares advice to airports on prioritising technological investment.

FTE spoke to Bob Kwik, Global Head of Airports, Amazon Web Services (AWS), following his participation in the FTE Tech Download Think Tank, which took place during last month’s FTE EMEA 2022 show in Dublin. In this video interview, Kwik shares some of the key technology trends discussed during the panel session, including the use of data and computer vision and the importance of moving to the cloud, as well as his advice to airports on how to determine the technological investments that will best serve their needs. He says: “It is important for an airport to focus on the business outcome that it wants to achieve. Technology is a set of tools that can enable a business outcome. So, don’t focus too much on the technology and what it can do necessarily, but really think about the business case and how you’re trying to improve the passenger experience, operations and revenues.”

AWS’ Bob Kwik is also joining the FTE Global ‘Future Airports’ conference track, taking place on 6-9 September in Las Vegas, in a session titled “The Airport Tech Leaders Conversation – what tech is worth the time and investment?”. He will present alongside speakers from Tampa International Airport, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Clark County Department of Aviation, and many more to be announced soon.
